LOCAL NEWS The Leaf-Chronicle Thursday, May 7,2009 A5 Obituaries Paul Daniel Berry Paul Daniel Berry, 91, Clarksville, died Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at Clarksville Manor. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at NealTarpley Chapel with Rev. Thomas Dowdy and Rev. Paul Tramil officiating.

Berry will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 am. until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home. Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He was born June 22,1917 in Dickson, TN son of Herbert Berry and Lula Brazzell Berry. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Moore Berry, a daughter, Glenda Pennington, and a sister, Louise Berry. Mr. Berry was a retired lumberman with Edgar Orgain and Son Company. He was a member of Forest Street United Methodist.

Church. Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Bellar (Ray), and Norma Parchman (Don), both of Clarksville; a son, Paul L. Berry (Ann), Dover, TN; a brother, Morris Berry, Cunningham, TN; two sisters, Joy Groves, Southside, TN and Evelyn Logan, Slayden, TN and five grandchildren, Andy Wallace, Jeff Parchman, Darren Parchman, Troy Bellar, and Kim Berry; and ten great -grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Vernie Hill, Chris Parchman, Freddie Parchman, Lester Groves, Randy Logan, and Michael Logan. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Gateway Hospice, 1606 Haynes Street, Clarksville, TN 37043.

GREEN The Leaf-Chronicle A Clarksville mother was arrested Tuesday and charged with leaving three children, 7 years old and younger, home alone. Jamieka Dianne Giles, 27, who gave a 257 Caldwell Lane address, was charged with three counts of child abuse and neglect.

Bond was set at $15,000. According to a Clarksville Police Department report, three girls ages, 5, 6 and 7 were reported home alone without supervision around 6:22 p.m. Tuesday. The person who called the police said the mother was gone and the children were trying to climb out a window onto the roof, the report stated. Police made contact with the children and several neighbors who said they didn't know where the mother had gone or when she left.

About 10 minutes later, Giles came back to the home as a passenger in someone's car and said she went to the store, the report stated. Giles allegedly spoke with neighbors, one of whom approached the officer and said she was watching the children but had been next door. Police arrested Giles and notified the Department of Children's Services. Man shoots self A man who was attempting to show his friend how to use a gun accidentally shot himself in the hand Monday, according to a CPD report. The victim said he was showing his friend how to use the gun when he forgot to clear the round from the weapon.

He was treated for his injuries at Gateway Medical Center. Woman reports burglary attempt A 24-year-old woman says an unknown person tried to break into her home in the 200 block of Cimarron Court a little after midnight Wednesday. According to a CPD report, the woman was asleep in her bedroom when she woke to the sound of her window screen being raised. The woman said she had secured the window. The noise stopped after she yelled for her brother, who was in the living room.

Arrest The following people were booked Tuesday into the Montgomery County Jail on the accompanying charges: Antonio Julian Bueno, 37, who gave a 194 Dave Drive address, two counts of aggravated assault, contempt. Bond was set at $10,000. Daryl Scott Hester, 38, who gave a 1710 Bridgewood Road address, aggravated assault. Bond was set at $2,500. Crystal Jaherric Nolen, 24, who gave a 9 Strassburg Drive address, two counts of DUI, two counts of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, driving on a revoked license.
